Tudor North Flag
The case of the Tudor North Flag appears very technical, even scientific. However, the watch manufactory furnished it with a special design. It is edged but elegantly polished and completely satin-finished for the matt look. Sophisticated finesse rounds off this impression. A striking reflection of the incoming light is achieved with the North Flag alone due to the fact that the surface of the remarkable watch is slightly curved. The taper section on the sides and the bottom of this elegant timepiece with the chic power reserve display contribute to the general finesse. It runs in an artful bevelled edge. The North Flag in a sophisticated way forms part of extraordinary Swiss watches, the line-up of exclusive Tudor timepieces.
Like the great example
The watch workshop Tudor once should be something like the little sister of Rolex. The founder of the company, Hans Wilsdorf, had already established the luxury goods company Rolex when he set up another business in 1926. He wanted to create a watch line that is just as reliable as the brand Rolex. But it should be less expensive. There is no evidence whether the founder had already planned that the little sister at some point manufactures own calibers and acts independently. In the beginning, Tudor still received case and caliber from Rolex. When the company's strategy changed only the reliable movements by Rolex were used. The first step to the own manufactory movement was made by the little sister in 2003. In the year 2015, the in-house automatic caliber MT 5621 was introduced. It is ticking in the case of the North Flag. You can see it through a viewing window in the case bottom. Despite all the freedom, Tudor is a hundred-percent Rolex subsidiary.
Caliber of a special class
The Tudor manufactory movement in the North Flag does credit to the tradition of the Swiss watches with perfection and reliability. A rotor that can be winded in both directions provides the watch of cool stainless steel with a power reserve of 70 hours. The precision of the movement in the 40 millimeters case that was completely designed and manufactured in the workshops of Tudor has been confirmed by the Swiss chronometer verifying authority COSC by a certificate. The balance spring, practically the centerpiece of the North Flag, is of silicon. As a matter of course for a scientific instrument it is completely antimagnetic and it makes the timepiece perhaps the most interesting alternative to Rolex Milgauss. The time in hours, minutes and seconds can be read in the classic way via central hands. The day display of the North Flag makes the calm and fresh dial complete.
