Breguet – famous since 1775
Abraham Louis Breguet was one of the most famous watchmakers of his time – but he also made himself a name as inventor and designer. He created luxury timepieces which were not only groundbreaking, but seminal for the development of the industry. His first job was just the assembly of already produced parts, but he quickly began producing his own movements, since he didn't want to be involved with the greatly varying quality of the parts delivered to him. Even Tsar Alexander of Russia himself was impressed by the Frenchman's handiwork displayed in those early watches. Up until the war in 1870, the company was still led by the Breguet family, but after that had quite a few different owners. Today, even though Breguet is now part of the Swatch Group, they still produce luxury timepieces following the founder´s philosophy.
Simple or intricate?
Even their current collections still recall the classic designs of the very first Breguet timekeepers which were produced over 240 years ago. That is why classical watches with engine turned dials, the popular Breguet hands and fluted casings made of gold or steel still make up the majority of the collection. Add in a long list of complications and you have any watch lover's dream. Available for both women and men, the watches come with wristbands made from natural rubber, leather, steel or gold. Diamond-studded bezels are just as much part of the design as are models which offer a look into the inner workings of these luxury timepieces with their skeleton design. The wide range of unusual shapes, paired with intricacies like tourbillons give these watches their distinct look and provide styles from sportive and strong to petite and effeminate – and surely the right one for you.
