NOMOS Glashütte
Photographer Roland Schwertner chose the city Glashütte in Saxony as location for his watchmaking brand Nomos in 1990. The former silver mining town has become famous worldwide since high-quality watch manufactories set up their businesses there mid 19th century. In 1992, the first collection of Nomos Glashütte, consisting of four different basic timepieces called Tetra, Ludwig, Tangente and Orion, hit the market. After using Swiss movements in the beginning, the manufactory switched to using self-made movements in 2005. Therefore, the company is allowed to use the term "Glashütte" in their name. For this, at least 50% of the material has to be produced in the Saxon town – Nomos goes one step further and fabricates between 75 – 95% in Glashütte. The fancy watches, which are developed in the city's old railway station, are in a class of their own.
