« For all the ladies ready for takeoff »
Originally built for daring missions above the clouds, pilot watches have long since made the leap into civilian life and rank among the most popular timepieces on men's wrists. But these functional instruments are also becoming increasingly popular with women, and the sheer variety on offer can be overwhelming. We bring some clarity and present our top 5 women's pilot watches – from affordable to exclusive.
Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical
Should it matter for your buying decision whether your personal favorite is labeled a men's or a women's model? In the case of the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical (Ref. H76419531), it's a fair question: despite being officially a men's watch, this slim 36 x 33 mm edition with its strikingly oval case belongs, in our view, among the best women's pilot watches. Its authenticity comes not only from the dark gray grained dial but also from its focus on the essentials – instead of complications, you get a symmetrical, uncluttered time display with superb legibility.
Ideal for ladies who want to steer clear of the bling trend with all its diamonds and gold plating and would rather wear something down-to-earth on their wrist. Down-to-earth is the right word, because a sapphire crystal and 100 meters of water resistance make it highly robust for everyday wear while protecting the H-50 automatic movement from external influences.
The ETA-based caliber boasts a hefty 80-hour power reserve, making it ready for several long-haul flights. Price-wise, however, the Hamilton doesn't soar to lofty heights – at €825, it stays within easy reach of the ground.
Oris Big Crown Pointer Date
If a simple three-hand model isn't exciting enough for you, take a look at the women's pilot watches from Oris. The Big Crown Pointer Date collection in particular is well worth discovering:
Not only does it offer a wide range of models, from dedicated women's watches (29 mm) to unisex options (36 mm), it also features the brand's signature pointer date – a true rarity in the watch world. Rather than breaking the dial's symmetry like a date window, it marks the current day with a red crescent on the outer scale. This scale is in turn framed by an elegantly fluted bezel, available gold-plated if you prefer, which further boosts the instant recognizability of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date.
Crafted from stainless steel, every edition has a sapphire caseback for viewing the automatic movement. Both the caliber 594 in the 29 mm model and the 754 in the 36 mm version offer a 38-hour power reserve. We find the women's pilot watches with a black dial especially appealing, such as the small reference 01 594 7680 4364-07 5 14 76FC. Interestingly, it scores with 100 meters of water resistance, while the larger unisex versions are rated to only 50 meters. All models are priced between €1,200 and €1,800.
Mühle Glashütte Terrasport III Women's Watch
The Big Crown faces competition from Saxony, where Mühle Glashütte builds the Terrasport III women's watch with the brand's characteristic precision and forward-thinking approach. A no-frills design, good legibility, and a touch of sportiness are the defining traits of these compact 34 mm women's pilot watches. Our favorite is the black Ref. M1-37-84-LB, whose date display sits discreetly at 3 o'clock, balanced by small details such as the red tip of the seconds hand.
Together with the Mühle emblem on the crown, it adds a hint of excitement to an otherwise rather sober world. Refined but not flashy – the tone set by the brushed stainless steel case carries through to the Arabic numerals and lozenge hands of this ladies' pilot watch. Inside, it relies on the proven Sellita SW 200-1, which offers a 38-hour power reserve and is visible through a sapphire caseback. If you want to watch the ticking components of these women's pilot watches for yourself, the manufacturer's price is €1,230, payable to the Müglitz Valley.

Breitling Navitimer Chronograph 41
One league above the Terrasport plays the aviation legend par excellence: Breitling's Navitimer. As the Chronograph 41, it's not only the stuff of countless men's dreams but also fits the role of a ladies' pilot watch beautifully. At 41 mm, it pushes the upper limit of the feminine size range and comes in several versions, of which we prefer the vivid blue Ref. A13324121C1X1. Its luxurious shimmer is only the prelude to a flood of sensory impressions: the legendary slide rule, the red accents, the small brand logo serving as the seconds hand's counterweight – you feel like you discover something new every time you look at it.
In this way, the Navitimer defies the simplicity of a Khaki Aviation or Terrasport, yet still surpasses the elegance of the entry-level models. The only drawback: at €5,550, these women's pilot watches don't have an in-house movement but draw their energy from the ETA-based Breitling 17. In return, build quality, recognizability, and functionality are all at the very highest level. The Chronograph 41 may not be a typical women's pilot watch, but when a confident lady does wear it, its impact is in a class of its own.
Bell & Ross BR S Black Diamond Eagle Diamonds
If you'd rather go truly unconventional, we recommend a closer look at the women's pilot watches from Bell & Ross. They manage to combine the young brand's signature instrument design with jewelry-like elements.
A prime example of this symbiosis is the BR S Black Diamond Eagle Diamonds (Ref. BRS-EBL-CE-LGD/SCA): like its masculine siblings, it features a 39 mm square case with exposed screws and a round dial, but adds a creative diamond setting to the familiar characteristics. The precious stones not only adorn the bezel but also form a starry sky within the dial – if you can even call it that, given the absence of markers.
The diamonds stand in maximum contrast to the black background, which is simply the logical continuation of the dark ceramic case. The case gives these women's pilot watches a respectable 100 meters of water resistance and houses the automatic BR-CAL.102. According to the manufacturer, this high-contrast exotic comes in at €5,990.
