As his sons took over the company in 1898 they started to create a pocket watch called Omega which was an extraordinary chronometer. Furthermore they chose Omega to be the company’s name, which metaphorically means accomplishment. The aim is absolute precision, perfection and timeless style. The Omega Speedmaster, which was launched in 1957, represents this exactly. This timepiece immediately became popular because of its precision, stability, simple usability and good readability. All this characteristics even made the Speedmaster fly to the moon in 1969.
