The family owned the company until 1932, after which it existed as Rayville S.A. for almost 40 years. But all the timepieces and clockworks manufactured during this period also bore the name Blancpain, a label that had established itself. In 1970, however, the company, which was steeped in tradition, almost came to an end, as it was bought and shut down shortly after. Jacques Piguet and Jean-Claude Biver rescued the company in the early 1980s. They bought the brand name and began to produce new models based on the old. The Blancpain Sport Automatique, for example, is a tribute to the Fifty Fathoms launched in 1953.

The Sport Automatique, found in the Fifty Fathoms Collection, underlines its sporty design with textile and stainless-steel bracelets. For example, the watch cases are made of titanium, steel or rose gold, giving the timepieces a striking look. The dials are classic in black or white, with luminous hands and indices. Since the timepieces are based on a diving watch from the 1950s, they are, needless to say, also water-resistant up to 300 metres and have a rotating bezel. Furthermore, the Sport Automatique Fifty Fathoms usually comes with a centre second hand and a date display. At the same time, with a diameter of up to 45 mm, it is always easy to read in any situation, even under water, of course.
