Max Bill by Junghans
(63 items)When the watchmaker Erhard Junghans established his own watchmaking company in 1861 he had already communicated his vision.
The company manifested this, as well as its milestones, in the Meister watch collections and in the Junghans collection. Another highlight was the dial designs by Max Bill, a pupil of Gropius and an all-round designer with links to the Bauhaus!
The artist Max Bill, who died in 1994, was, much like the watchmaker, a true jack of all trades. As an architect, sculptor, painter and product designer, he shaped a great deal during his creative periods. He demonstrated his affinity for technology when he designed the unusual and fascinating Max Bill watches for Junghans. Wall clocks, table clocks and, of course, wristwatches belong to this collection, which is still manufactured almost unchanged to this day. Max Bill by Junghans is exclusive, straight-lined, beautiful and technically perfect. As a representative of the Bauhaus, the artist also applied precise proportions to the dials of first-class Junghans watches. Their minimalist design appeals above all to the purists among lovers of high-quality luxury watches.
Gorgeous Bauhaus luxury watches for women and men
The Max Bill collection impresses with its predominantly simple design, which draws attention through its small subtleties. Large dials in white, black and silver, steel cases and straps made of stainless steel and leather give this series a wide range of visual differences that will surely meet your wishes in one way or another. At Uhrinstinkt you will find a large selection from the Max Bill by Junghans collection. Naturally, this also includes watches with light blue, brown, black or beige straps. This makes these fine watches suitable for all occasions and the most diverse tastes. The versatile functions such as luminous hands, seconds hands and date displays, as well as the high-quality workmanship, also speak for the watches from the Max Bill by Junghans collection. Hardly anything else embodies Max Bill's visions as well as these watches.
Junghans Max Bill Automatic
In tribute to reduction, the hand-wound version is particularly popular in this collection. But Bauhaus also stood for function and progress. So what could be more obvious than a Junghans Max Bill Automatic? Here, the original clarity of its creator meets the J800.1 movement with 38 hours of power reserve, in a 37 mm case. Compared with the hand-wound version, which at 34 mm belongs rather to the Junghans Max Bill ladies' watches, the unisex watch thus gains 3 mm. This does nothing, however, to change the beautiful purism of the watch. It is no coincidence that the Automatic and chronograph models of the line now sell considerably more often.
Junghans Max Bill Chronograph
At Junghans, the chronograph is called the Chronoscope. The focus on the essentials shows that the name of these excellent watches is actually of secondary importance. Often also referred to as the Junghans Max Bill Chronograph, the Chronoscope is available in numerous variants and is extremely popular within the portfolio. We find that a chronograph and the Bauhaus style are by no means mutually exclusive. With every model, the Black Forest manufacturer proves that a stop function can also look reduced and pure. 40 mm and the J880.2 movement allow time to be measured with visual clarity at the push of a button and make Max Bill and chronograph lovers more than happy.
Junghans Max Bill Ladies
Lotte Brendel, the Bauhaus pioneer, the woman who broke with all conventions to study art in the Weimar Republic, would have been delighted. The Max Bill ladies' watch is at times very popular and adorns the wrists of many self-confident women. These models fully live up to the new, non-decorative style of the 1920s. There is not yet a dedicated Junghans Max Bill ladies' line, as we see with the Form Damen, but female watch lovers around the world are surely already working to make this happen. Until then, the ladies' watches of the Max Bill line are extremely beautiful, with a slim 32.7 mm case and many colour variants. A further insider tip for women who prefer large watches is the unisex Max Bill Mega Solar with a 38 mm case.
Bauhaus watches in the 21st century
In times of pronounced vintage preferences, Max Bill watches still capture the zeitgeist today and prove how classic the Bauhaus period was. Elementary looks, reduction to the essentials – that was what attracted Junghans to Max Bill's work. The idea of having such an icon of German design create the dials of an icon of German watchmaking proved successful and lasting. Unchanged, the wristwatches designed in 1961 still adorn the wrists of many gentlemen with a penchant for Bauhaus understatement today.
