A rich history with groundbreaking innovations

Founded by the brilliant watchmaker Georges Schaeren, the technically focused company is named after the Spanish expression "Yo mido" ("I measure") and presented numerous intelligent solutions as early as its formative years. In 1930 it introduced the cork crown sealing system later named "Aquadura," followed by the famous Multifort collection in 1934. Antimagnetic, waterproof, shock-resistant and automatic – for the first time in history, these watches succeeded in combining all four properties in a single case. In 1959 Mido launched the revolutionary monocoque case in the Ocean Star to increase water resistance, but also demonstrated its aesthetic abilities, producing the smallest automatic women's watches of all time from 1967 onward. In the 1990s the brand confirmed its technical leadership with two world firsts: on the one hand the BODYGUARD with its integrated 100-decibel alarm siren, and on the other the WORLDTIMER with automatic setting of a chosen time zone.

From Paris to Sydney: magnificent architecture on the wrist

Now part of the Swatch Group, the manufacturer combines its horological pioneering spirit with a passion for historic and contemporary architecture. Mido fully expresses this focus not only as a member of the international architects' association UIA, but also in its collections. Among the dynamic lines is, in addition to the maritime Ocean Star, the prominent Multifort, whose inspiration lies in the elegant Sydney Harbour Bridge. These men's watches are complemented by the expressive Commander series, which is reminiscent of the precise construction style of the Eiffel Tower and includes both masculine and feminine timepieces.

The Mido automatic watches of the Belluna and Baroncelli collections present themselves even more distinguished: deliberately reduced to the essentials, they captivate with their noble appearance and fine character. The exciting portfolio is rounded off by the women's watches of the Rainflower series, whose dials are reminiscent of the lotus shape of the ArtScience Museum in Singapore.
