When Rolex introduced the Yacht-Master II in 2007, it was a sensation: the first regatta chronograph with a programmable countdown, built for the starting sequence of yacht racing. In 2024, Rolex surprisingly discontinued the striking 44 mm model — only to bring it back with a grand comeback in 2026. Outwardly, the Yacht-Master II stays true to its line — 44 mm in diameter, in Oystersteel (reference 126680) or 18k yellow gold (reference 126688). New are the matte white lacquered dial with applied white gold hour markers and Chromalight luminescence, and the regatta scale relocated to a newly profiled flange; on the steel version, red-accented countdown hands add a striking touch. The real revolution lies inside: the new manufacture calibre 4162 with column wheel and vertical clutch makes operating the programmable countdown considerably easier — it is now controlled entirely via the pushers, with a mechanical memory and on-the-fly synchronisation.
