Two escapements, one goal: boundless performance

At the core of the Extreme ticks the caliber El Primero 21, which causes a stir with two independent escapements: while the ongoing timekeeping takes place at a brisk frequency of 5 hertz (10 hand beats per second), the chronograph that can be engaged at the push of a button works at ten times the speed, so that its measurements are accurate to the hundredth of a second. The precision is displayed by the central chronograph hand, which sweeps across the dial once per second. The latter consists of tinted sapphire crystal, which allows you spectacular insights into the interior of the Defy Extreme.

In addition to the 100-unit scale on the outer rim and the applied, seemingly floating markers, the dial of the Extreme possesses three subdials: a 30-minute display at three o'clock, the 60-second chronograph counter at the lower center (necessary because the central chronograph hand measures the hundredths of a second), and a running small seconds at nine. Added to this is a special power reserve indicator in the upper center, which displays exclusively the remaining power of the chronograph function. Bright Superluminova and strong contrasts give the Extreme good legibility.

Titanium case with a quick strap-change system

On the wrist, the Defy Extreme sits with a 45-millimeter titanium case that, depending on the model, has a completely matte finish, a combination of polished and satin-finished elements, or subtle accents in 18-karat rose gold. A special advantage is the quick strap-change system, with which you can change the look of your Zenith Defy Extreme easily and without tools.
