The Italian Carlo Crocco founded the company MDM Genève in 1980 in Nyon, a small village in Switzerland. He already revolutionized the watchmaking world with the first luxury timepieces he launched: For the first time in history Crocco used caoutchouc and created exquisite watches that attract the eye with a perfect combination of gold and natural rubber. The name "Hublot" (French for "porthole") was given to the watches by MDM Genève since they optically reminded of a porthole with their large, round dial. In May 2014, Interbrand and the Swiss business magazine BILANZ ranked Hublot among the most valuable brands form Switzerland.

Masterpieces by Hublot – Big Bang

By introducing the product line Big Bang in 2005, the rapid rise of the luxury brand continued. The Hublot Big Bang watch was presented at the Baselworld and directly gained much praise and recognition. Furthermore, it was awarded at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève with a price for "best design" as well as with the "Sports Watch Price" at the Watch of the Year award in Japan. Moreover, a model of this product line holds the record for the most expensive watch in the world – the Big Bang $ 5 Million was presented in Basel in 2012 and costs, as the name suggests, 5 Million Dollars. This luxury timepiece is set with 1282 jewels and was created carefully handmade by twelve diamond polishers and five diamond setters within 14 months.

With its concept "The Art of Fusion" Hublot always combines different materials such as ceramics, gold and caoutchouc to a perfect unit.
