For the maintenance and the durability of your timepiece
Proper storage and continuous care are vital for the maintenance and the durability of your timepiece.
Wristwatches should be stored in a dust-free environment with low levels of humidity, for example, in a watch box. It is recommended to protect the timepieces from direct sun or light radiation as this could damage dial and hands (only in extreme situations). When the timepiece is not used for a long time, it is recommended to store it in a so-called "watch winder" that keeps the automatic movement in motion.
Remove the impurities of a waterproof watch (at least 3bar ~ 30m) with a wet cloth made of textile fibers. Important: Remove leather watch straps before cleaning. Do not use chemical detergents as they could damage the seal rings of bottom and crown which could possibly cause leakage.
Leather watch straps
These should not have contact with humidity, soap and chemicals. Only leather straps that are explicitly designated as waterproof can be cleaned under running water. The durability of a leather watch strap is about one to two years. For hygienic reasons, it is also recommended to observe these intervals.
Every six to ten years, your mechanic watch should have a complete service by an expert. An indication, among other things, is a high operating deviation. With a good service, the movement is removed from the case, disassembled, cleaned and professionally oiled with lubricants that are specifically adapted to watches.
