Fancier of luxury timepieces do know the name Hans Wilsdorf for sure. After all, this smart man from Kulmbach, Germany was the founder of Rolex – but also the brand Tudor exists thanks to him. Wilsdorf wanted to create a watch, which was just as reliable as the Rolex, but more favorably priced. That is why and how Tudor was established. The different design impressed immediately, the cases were rectangular or barrel-shaped and on the dials a rose were sported instead of a crown. In the matter of technique, Wilsdorf remained true with his innovations. He not only gave those watches the function of an alarm clock and a waterproof case, he also made them famous for being fabulous diver’s watches in an adequate price-performance ratio.
