When Robert Mühle established his family enterprise in 1869 he was first bearing in mind to construct highly precise measuring instruments and precision engineering devices. Very quickly, the company became well known far beyond the borders of Germany. Everything was going well but the Second World War and the division of Germany changed a lot: The company was expropriated in 1945 and the production facilities were dismantled. The newly founded company, set up one year later, was nationalized following the economic policy of the former East Germany in 1972. However, the management remained firmly in the hands of the family. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Mühle Glashütte Watches became entire family property again. Today – managed by the fifth generation – it is still family-owned and enjoys great popularity thanks to exclusive collections like the Teutonia II with high-quality luxury timepieces.
