When Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile started their business in 1853, they initially used material of other manufacturers for producing their pocket watches. In 1915 the company started to produce its first wristwatch – in 1920 Tissot finally ended up producing its first own movements. The success story continued until the Quartz Crisis hit the Swiss watchmaking industry. Several renowned manufacturers were about to be closed until Nicolas Hayek completely restructured the market for watches in 1985. Since that time, the label has been back on the winning ways. Tissot is never afraid of breaking new ground – they use materials like wood and stone for the production of their exclusive luxury watch cases.
