New edition of the Omega Railmaster on the occasion of the 60th anniversary
Without doubt, the brand Omega belongs to the main manufactories of the entire watch world and is at the same time innovator as well as keeper of great Swiss watchmaking art. Again, the brand demonstrates this with the new launch of the Railmaster Collection. Already on the occasion of the 60th anniversary, it was introduced again in the program of Omega within the limited editions of the Trilogy 1957 in addition to special versions of the Seamaster 300 and Speedmaster. Now, the legend returns into the repertoire of the premium manufacturer with a complete line.

More than ever, modern watchmaking art requires a successful combination of old and new. In particular, the luxury segment is striving for the perfection of this symbiosis. Omega is keeping the stylistically clear lines of the Railmaster from 1957 and only interprets the fine details in a modern way. Simple elegance characterizes the design of the old and new originals. A modern style element is, for example, the vertically brushed dial, the "lollipop second hand", which is actually a typical element of a station clock or the "railway minute scale" which is called like this because its optical appearance reminds of railway tracks. The caliber 8806 certified as master chronometer achieves unprecedented accuracy and resistance – the new version is thus the best Railmaster of all times.
Originally designed for railway workers
The Railmaster was supposed to be a watch for people who are working within close proximity of magnetic fields. The first copy was mainly intended for those railway workers who were working near rails and which watch bands were not deflected by the existing electric fields there. The first Omega Railmaster was operating unflustered by 1000 Gauss. Modern versions have a 15 times better performance. The seahorse on the case bottom that is typical for Omega is a sign for a waterproofness of 150 m and emphasizes the affiliation of the line to the Seamaster Collection. The modern Railmaster is currently available with grey or black dial. The 40 mm case is fitted by watch straps of leather, textile or stainless steel.
